• 50’s Diner Cheeseburger Casserole
Sunday, December 28th, 2008This is an easy, kid-friendly recipe that feeds a crowd. Even my picky eight year old son loves it.
Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
1/2 tsp garlic powder
10 ¼ can condensed cheese soup
1 bag tater tots
1 1/2 cup french-fried onions (Trader Joe’s makes and excellent version)
1 cup shredded monterey jack or mild cheddar cheese
Instructions
Brown the ground beef and drain. Mix with cheddar cheese soup. Add french-fried onions and mix well. Spread meat mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 baking dish. Spread one layer of tater tots over meat mixture. Bake for 1 hour at 400 degrees F or until the tater tots are crisp. Sprinkle with Monterey Jack cheese and return to oven until melted.
Serve hot and pass the ketchup!
